I've made a Google+ community for Around Fremont.
G+ is alive and well in certain niches, which happen to be niches I think are mostly pretty cool: writers, scientists, educators, engineers, gamers, artists, etc. Its new Community tool looks pretty good, like the better features of FB's Pages and Groups (with a dash of LJ in there--while Around Fremont's main presence these days is @aroundfremont
, of course, it started right here!). I've been debating starting a Facebook page for a while, and I did make one with the name so it could be found, but the G+ Community looks more usable to me. Pages are annoying, users see very few of the posts, and so on. Of course, if you're not on G+, I guess you won't see the posts anyway. But chances are you have a Gmail login, so you might as well try it out. I think it'll be much better for having actual discussions than FB. FB's comment culture tends to be a little toxic, anyway.
Come join us at G+!
